High Performing LA School Drops Common Core and Tests

The School Board of one of Louisiana’s highest-performing school districts passed a resolution on October 10, 2013, to drop out of the Common Core State Standards and to not administer the new PARCC assessments,  the new national standardized tests for 3rd through 11th grade students. The President of the local teacher union and the school superintendent both publicly support the School Board’s decision.

In its resolution, the Board explained the disruption both measures would present to its schools and student learning.  Full text of the resolution can be found by clicking here.  This news comes from long time student advocate and teacher Mercedes Schneider.
